Baby Om is pleased to announce the next session of its Baby Om Teacher Training, to be held Friday, February 1 through Sunday, February 3, 2008 in New York City. This 21-hour intensive is limited to 12 participants and will have three principal sections:
  • the postpartum body
  • the newborn
  • putting it all together

Baby Om Teacher Training is intended for yoga teachers and health care professionals with an active yoga practice. This workshop delivers a complete toolkit of techniques that will allow teachers to offer compelling mother and baby yoga classes in their area.

Specific topics to be discussed include:

The Postpartum Body
  • Common weaknesses of the postpartum body and the corresponding asanas for regaining strength
  • Essential exercises for the new mother
  • What is "good alignment"?
  • Looking for symptoms of depression
  • Cesarean recovery through yoga

The Newborn
  • The three major stages of infant development: 0-3 months, 3-6 months and 6-12 months
  • Corresponding Baby Om engagement exercises
  • The cesarean and colic baby

Putting it all together
  • How to structure a class
  • How to keep a class moving
  • How to incorporate the baby throughout the class
  • Cesarean, nursing and colic variations
  • Helping new mothers feel comfortable

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in several Baby Om classes, and finally, to teach sections of a Baby Om class.

On completion of the workshop, each participant will be presented with a Baby Om Teacher Training Certificate, which sanctions participants to describe their classes as using Baby Om Techniques. It will not, however, authorize certified trainees to operate as Baby Om or use the Baby Om logo.
