Sarah Perron
Sarah Perron came to yoga from a professional dance background and has been teaching yoga since 1992. Her desire to deepen her understanding of yoga and its therapeutic value led her to the Iyengar Institute, completing the teacher training in 2005 and certifications 2007, and where she continues to study. Her primary teachers include Mary Dunn, Brooke Myers, Kevin Gardiner, Lara Brunn and Jeanne-Marie Derrick and she has had the privilege of studying therapeutics with Geeta Iyengar and Stephanie Quirk.
Her own pregnancy and the birth of her daughter sparked her continuing interest in working with women through the prenatal and postpartum period. Joining forces with Laura to create Baby Om has had a profound effect on her teaching.
Sarah currently teaches at yoga studios in New York City and presents the prenatal portions of the teacher training at Yoga Sutra and in April Martucci's Fire Dragon Yoga training.
Laura Staton
Laura Staton has been teaching yoga with a focus on the prenatal and postpartum body since 1999, when she and Sarah co-founded Baby Om. Laura's interest in the body and her own history of injuries has kept her very involved in working with yoga as a therapeutic practice. Her classes are anatomically precise and draw on her background as a modern dancer and choreographer as well as her current work as a hospital-based Occupational Therapist specializing in rehabilitation. She is a graduate of both the Juilliard School and the New York University Steinhardt School of Education, and has been fortunate to study yoga with Kevin Gardner, Mary Dunn, Carol Foster and Lara Brunn among others.
