About Baby Om
In 1999, Laura and Sarah began Baby Om because as new mothers they were elated and exhausted, and felt an overwhelming urge to spend time with their children. But as women, as dancers, and as yoga teachers, they wanted to get back in shape while bonding with their babies. Learning how to practice yoga along with their babies turned out to be the only way to indulge both needs: to deepen their bonds with their children while healing their postpartum selves. With the release of their new book, Baby Om: Yoga for Mothers and Babies, they hope to bring this connection and unique play time to mothers everywhere. In 2002, Prenatal Om was added to the class roster, and in 2003, Mommy Om was begun. With these classes, Baby Om now offers yoga for all stages of motherhood. Laura Staton, co-founder of Baby Om, is a professional choreographer, dancer and yoga instructor.
